Pet Friendly Flights: A new cabin experience
Pet transport is one of the highest-friction points in the airline industry. Under our "Fresh Experience" philosophy, we approached this challenge not merely as product design but as an end-to-end intervention in the value chain, turning a logistics problem into a competitive advantage.
The Challenge: Crisis Resolution at the Point of Sale
We found that ambiguity around carrier dimensions caused constant crises at the check-in counter, leading to passengers unable to board and negative brand experiences. The project was developed and presented to the Airport Experience & Cabin Product Manager team, with the goal of standardizing the experience and securing operational flow, improving the passenger experience by 100% when traveling with pets.
The Proposal: A Logistics Asset with Global Reach
Our solution was a kennel and water-holder prototype designed to the strictest aviation standards, conceived as an asset the airline could integrate into its cross-selling offer.
Attributes of the Project Presented:
- Foldable, Operational Design: The model was engineered to fold, allowing efficient storage in the limited space of airport check-in offices.
- Boarding Guarantee: A design aligned with regulations by aircraft type, removing passenger uncertainty at the moment of purchase.
- Production Plan in China: We designed a global manufacturing and distribution scheme so the airline could hold stock at any terminal in the world without logistics complications.
- 360° Brand: We turned the carrier into a vehicle for brand identity along the passenger's entire journey.
The Strategic Value: Intelligence over Execution
This project remained at the strategic presentation and prototyping stage; its development validated our ability to understand an airline's core business. We can sit down with decision-makers in critical areas (Airport Experience) and deliver solutions that span everything from international manufacturing cost to ergonomics at the terminal.
At SK/Branders, we are driven to think through solutions and design the future of the operation, even before the first prototype reaches the tarmac.
This project, together with its prototype, was presented to the Airport Experience team at LATAM Chile. All audiovisual material (images and video) was produced and generated by the Sk/Branders team.
